scenes from my weekend + today

so what did i do this weekend?

my new j.crew peal cluster necklace came in the mail
(again, sorry for the terrible quality of the of the pictures. crackberry probs)

i've been watching A LOT of olympic action

on the way to lunch with dad and my aunt we saw four cars like this in tow. they all said "caution in tow" and were being pulled by cars the same size. all of them were PACKED with stuff.

today i reunited with my best friend from high school!

we had a yummy lunch at a place near her apartment in atl called tin lizzy's
best chips and salsa hands down.
thankfully she's just like me and freezes inside every restaurant we go to so we agreed to sit on the patio. we had it all to ourselves and we def needed it, we tend to get a little loud when we get together!

we walked around the park after lunch. conveniently located like 3 blocks from her place.

such a wonderful weekend and day!

what i've been doing

so i've been helping a teacher friend of mine set up her classroom. this isn't her first rodeo but she asked if i wouldn't mind lending a helping hand and i can use the experience. (because i'm crossing my fingers that it'll be me next year setting up my classroom.)

i sat here for two days checking these books into her classroom library on her phone.
i'm gonna have to remember all these cool apps!

her library (i'm drooling)
you can def tell i'm meant to me a teacher

these are my new find. so cute!

also, i finished my current read

and i'm in need of a new one. any suggestions?

Family Trip (Part Two)

let's play a game real quick. it's called "if you really knew me you would know..."

ok here it goes. if you really knew me you would know that i LOVE sailboats. i've only been sailing a few time. the downfall of living no where near the ocean. but i just love them.
but dad's cousin owns his own sailboat that he races every week in chesapeake bay and he took us out the day before we left the dc area.

here's some pic of the adventure!

t.c. (our captain)

my little cousin austin

the navel academy

these are little razor sailboats. these guys were in the middle of a race when we passed them.

it rained while we were out.

jer and t.c. stayed outside

everyone one else went down into the cabin.

we had dinner at the annapolis yacht club and then sailed home.

they actually let me drive us back in the dark!
i'm totally hooked. i loved learning more about sailing and i'm itching to go out again.

so i realized that i still have more to tell yall about our trip, so i'm gonna post the last of our trip in one more post!
yay!! get excited :)

ya gotta start somewhere

so today hasn't been a very productive day but i did start my new workout routine.
i confess that i didn't do the cardio because by the time i got up it was too hot to run outside.
but i am very proud of myself for doing the rest of it!

and the rest of the day has been spent reading.. and such.
the camera on my phone sucks. one of these days i'll get a decent phone.

i really need to get some stuff done for bid night but i don't even know where to start so i'm taking the day off from it! maybe tomorrow i'll get to work on it.

i'm also going to help a friend get her classroom together for the upcoming school year tomorrow. ya know, practice for when i have my own classroom!

Family Trip (Part One)

so this summer the fam decided that we wanted to go visit washington dc, our nation's beautiful capitol! we've been two other times but we thought that it was time for another go.
we stayed at my two great aunt's house. they live a short drive to the metro train that runs right into dc.
we had a wonderful time! we even got a personal tour of the capitol by our good friend sami, who is interning for rob woodall (a member of the house of representatives on behalf of georgia).

an old picture of the first time we went to dc. that's aunt jo and aunt ada.
check out the winnie the pooh tshirt.

trying to figure out metro

the fam with our tour guide

we met sami in the building next to the capitol where some of the house of representatives' offices are and we got to walk through the underground tunnels into the capitol.
so cool!

inside the capitol's dome

ronald reagan

this is where we had lunch after our tour. they claimed to have the best burgers in dc.

and they were right! i don't even like burgers and i enjoyed this one!

this is the navy memorial. we haven't seen this before. this picture is upside down but it's a picture of the world. the dark spots are water. and that's me standing on hawaii. i've always wanted to go there :)

the white house
(i know you just rolled your eyes and thought, duh jenna)

we didn't get to go up in the washington monument this time because it's closed due to earthquake damages. but trust me, it's a beautiful view from the top!

during our last trip we only got to see this memorial briefly because it was dark and we were all tired. so we made sure to make time for it this trip.

we all took picture next to the state where we were born.
(notice mom's hand on the hip action there. she's such a sorority mom. love her!)

the freedom wall on the far side of the memorial was really powerful.

i was bummed we didn't have time to see the lincoln memorial. this was as close to it as we got this time.

but i did find the scrapbook page mom made for our first trip in 2000, when i was ten years old. here it is for your viewing pleasure.

you see that kid in the green shirt and the blue baseball cap? yeah, that's me. quite the tomboy. and overalls we def in...
i'm pretty sure they don't let kids slide down the outside of the memorial anymore, and i'm pretty sure it's because of my brother and me. oops!

keep a lookout for part two!!
