2011 in one post

i've seen a few other bloggers do this and i love the idea of a year-end review.
here we go!

i turned 21 in january and that was quite the kick-off to the new year.

and we had a whole week off from school due to just a little a lot snow and ice!

not much of an eventful month. just busy with my first block of student teaching and hanging out with sisters.

we had some fun socials that month. don't remember the names of them. oops!

also, formal (which ps- i planned.. with some help, thanks LD!) and i am NEVER planning a sorority formal again. i had fun but i was way too worried about getting everyone there, running out of food (which we did), and making sure everyone was safe.
basically it was a nightmare for me, but it ended up not being too bad. clearly i'm not going into the event planning business.
but i loved my dress!

what a busy month!
tim mcgraw concert, greek week, bestie's wedding shower, fam fam day, and our last social for the semester

my brother graduated! and graduation for some of my best friends in the entire world.

my bestie got MARRIED!! and i had the privilege of being her maid of honor :)

and orientation took over my life that month. literately, took it!

HAITI mission trip!!

look at that precious face!

sorry for the photo dump for this month. i never did a post about this trip.

jess turned 21! and my (somewhat) senior year starts

recruitment is over and we got some amaXIng new girls added to the chapter.

another busy month!
homecoming, luke bryan concert, taking lil number two, and a trip to illinois!

we had our semi formal this month as well as a tacky christmas social. and our scarf swap.

i also had my last day student teaching in 3rd grade, which was so bittersweet. i LOVED my students and my teacher but i'm another step closer to graduation!!

our christmas card pic by the church christmas tree.

we took our annual trip to illinois to see the rest of the fam fam.

unfortunately there wasn't any snow this year :(

i have been so blessed this year. it's been a year full of ups and downs, laughter and tears. i've made some amazing new friends this year and have gotten closer with others. i can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for me. i have another birthday to look forward to (very soon might i add), being new member educator for my sorority, a new job position this summer, and what i'm most excited about... GRADUATION!!!
there's going to be a lot of lasts this coming year and i plan on making the most of everything!

ps- i got a new camera for christmas!! so get ready for some nicer quality pics :)

quote of the day

tomorrow we are headed to illionis!!!
*insert giant smile here*
i cannot wait to see the rest of the fam fam!

i also wanted to post a quote of the day. it's one that i've been having trouble with recently.
i tend to worry.. a lot. especially about the future.
how am i going to pay off my student loans? what i'm i gonna do when i graduate? will i find a job semi close to home? what if i suck at teacher? where am i supposed to meet nice, young, gentlemen after i graduate if i'm teaching in a female dominated workplace? how am i supposed to know who "the one" is? what if i never find anyone? what am i eating for breakfast tomorrow?

ok i kid about the last one (sort of).

but i was doing my daily devotional last night (ok, honestly it's not as daily as it needs to be, but i'm working on it.) and it was talking about how we have 1,440 minutes in a day and it asked the question, "do you value your relationship with God enough to spend a few of those minuets with Him?"

it got me thinking

it went on to say that the best way we could ever start our day is not by drinking the perfect cup of coffee, or doing 20 jumping jacks, but to spend our first few moments with Him. after reading this i was inspired to look up "future" in my bible. it brought me to Matthew 6: 25-34 but more specifically to verse 34.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own."

that was just what i needed to hear. i've always known that He had my back and i always knew that He has my life mapped out i just need to hear it again and be reassured. that's not to say that i'm not going to worry ANYMORE, totally and completely. but i have to leave my fears and worry to the Lord. He knows what he's doing.

so that's the story behind the quote of the day.
i promise i won't have such a lengthy explanation for the next one!

buffalo chicken bites

tonight i made a yummy yummy dinner for my mom and dad.
i found this recipe online and it look too good to pass up. i'll put the link here so you can try it!

(if you made them a little smaller they would be a perfect appetizer.)

well i gotta go wrap gifts and plan my shopping day tomorrow.

ps- i'm getting my hair cut.. ok like a trim.. tomorrow. but you have to understand i have a fear of getting my hair cut. i'll like it when i'm there but an hour later i'm in tears. never fails.

i left my camera cord

so boo on me!
i, being the worst packer in the world, forgot my camera cord at school and i'm seriously considering driving all the way back for it.
how else am i supposed to update yall on my holiday doings?!?!

but while i'm here i might as well tell you about a fab giveaway over at Beautie & the Belle
it's for a marley lilly monogram scarf of your choice.
take a look at her website. they monogram just about anything and everything. great gift ideas (hint hint)

but anyway, i was going to fill this space with pictures of mom and mines baking day. buuuttt that'll have to wait until i figure something out with the camera.

any suggestions, send my way!

My Break.. So far

if you guess number 3 in my two truths and a lie you are CORRECT!!
i dislike science with a passion.
math is more my thing.

but i'm not here to chat about what math... i'm on christmas break.
thank goodness!!

i finally got home yesterday. keep in mind i've been done with class since last thursday. yikes!
but i've been busy with an exec meeting, head staff retreat and going to visit my sweet third graders. i have never received a more warm welcome than i did when walking into that classroom. they are such sweet kids!

but now that i'm home i've been christmas shopping, (almost done btw) thank you pinterest for some lovely ideas, baked cookies, done laundry, painted and repainted my nail, and of course watched as much christmas tv/movies as i can!

side story: when i got home i found a lovely little present on my bed from dad. a  GACE practice book. guess i'll be starting my studying while at grandma's

which bring me to my next subject.

we're going to illinois friday :)

i was there in october (you can read about my visit here) but i'm so pumped to go back!
every year for christmas my fam fam drives 12 hours, that's right i said 12 hours, to see the rest of the crazy fam fam. it is absolutly one of my favorite trips that we make.
since we live so far from our extended family we only get to see them one, maybe two times a year. it's always an exciting and loud time when we get together. i can't wait to tell yall more about it!

in the mean time i have lots more baking and christmas shopping to do.
wish me luck!

two truths and a lie

normally i'm totes apposed to lying but i just love this game. it's a good way to get to know people.

i'm gonna tell yall two truths and a lie and you have to figure out which one is which.

1. i am a HUGE college football fan. i'll watch football all day on saturdays! my mom says i need to find a man who will be willing to watch saturday football with me. apparently it's supposed to be the other way around. that's what she told me at least.

2. i love to travel!! after i graduate i want to travel as much and as often as i can before i settle down. i went to Haiti over the summer and i want SO badly to go back to teach english or something along those lines.

3. my best subject in school is science. i love learning about our world and what it's made up of. i especially love wearing those super cool goggles you have to wear when working on an experiment, and my favorite thing in high school biology was dissecting the fetal pig! soooo cool

so now it's your turn! tell me which one is the fib :)

Happy December

yaaaaayyy! it's december!
i'm SO excited!
we already have the sorority house decorated with not one but TWO trees!
and the other day we had our scarf swap, and i've have to say that it was a huge success.

my fam fam

and ps- em if you're reading this we MISS you and this picture just isn't the same without you!!

and last night was our tacky christmas social.
i was a christmas tree, complete with christmas light
(battery operated hehehe)

yesterday was also my last day in my third grade class. i was so sad to leave. but i did manage to keep the tears at bay while my students gave me their cards and gifts. they spoiled me!

melt my heart!

my supervising teacher.
ha it looks like i'm wearing a hat but its the top of the christmas tree.

my wonderful supervising teacher knows and understands my obsession for lilly and got me a lilly magnetic board and tote bag. how sweet is she?!
(the merry christmas card was drawn by one of my students)

and my students loved the melty snowmen cookies that i slaved away baking the night before.
thank you pinterest for the idea!

on another note, thanks for the sweet comments about my semi dress. it was so cute and comfortable!
and believe it or not it's from old navy!
yes... old navy!

you can get it here.

and the necklace is from francescas but i can't find it online anymore. sad day.

anywho. i'm enjoying the winding down of the semester and actually relaxing for once in my life.
what a neat concept right?!

hope yall are having a wonderful day :)
Much Love!
